What to Expect During Your Appointment

About a week before your appointment, pause blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Aleve), fish oil, and high-dose vitamin E. These can increase the likelihood of bruising. Skip the cocktails, too. Don’t drink alcohol for at least 48 hours before your visit.
Hold off on waxing, tweezing, or using hair removal creams in the area you’re treating to prevent irritation. Worried about discomfort? Feel free to take Tylenol (as long as your physician approves) about an hour before your appointment.
Post-Treatment Guidelines
Once your injections are done, here’s how to keep those results looking their best:
- Stay upright – no lying down – for at least 4 to 6 hours after your appointment.
- Skip rubbing or putting pressure on the treated areas for the rest of the day.
- Be gentle when washing your face or applying makeup.
- Take a break from workouts for 24 hours (your gym crush will still be there tomorrow).
- Avoid saunas, hot yoga, and extreme temperatures for a day.
Notice a little redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising? That’s totally normal. Some folks also experience mild headaches a day or two after treatment. Tylenol usually does the trick if that happens.
